haha i tried explaining this to a korean friend and she had no idea why i couldnt stop laughing about it. once she figured it out she yelled at me because there was no POSSIBLE way that a boy band member named g-dragon dressed like elton johns ice cream man could POSSIBLY accidentally do something less than heterosexual.

osaka weekend
so a little over a week ago, i had the great fortune of spending a few days in osaka visiting my friend kai (a native of that fine city residing here in seoul). my admitted feet-dragging on buying a ticket and arranging days off work in the weeks leading up to the trip nearly jeopardized the adventure, but kai’s constant support (furious emails) and kind words (“i’ll bite you to...
the fish was wonderful and i tried whale for the first time; an initially slightly off-putting, but ultimately pretty tatsy clash of beefy-fishiness, but something i had never eaten, so what the hell. then it was off to summer sonic.
the summer sonic festival was the main reason for choosing that particular weekend to kick it in osaka. it was a hot, dusty, sweaty affair held on the festival...

so that was day 1. day 2 was a little less eventful. what was supposed to be an early morning (4am?!) jogging session with her dad didnt happen, thank god, so we just spent the day walking around downtown and shopping and such. my feet are now officially too big for 2 different countries. exciting. alright back to class/post office/pension office/dept store. new loafers! coming home in a week!
wow
so the last few weeks have been extremely crazy/fun/hectic. i went to a beach bro-down with a bunch of intense korean surfer dudes (complete w/ acoustic raggae, tequila, and armed patrol ships), then spent some of the busiest 36 hours of my life in osaka (complete w/ jenny lewis, whale sushi, and a fireworks show). i’ll expand on this in a bit (complete w/ pictures), but unfortunately im at...

now normally i shy away from writing posts about my students. sure, sometimes they say unintentionally silly things, but learning a language is tricky and i dont like to give people too hard a time about it. that being said, the following has nothing to do with the misuse of language so much as it has to do with a young man who will either save the world or destroy it. a young man named do young.
